Local SEO Checklist for Canadian Small Businesses
If you serve a city or a region, local search is where the customers are. Here is the checklist.

Your Google Business Profile
Claim it, verify it, and fill out every field. Hours, services, photos, and a description that uses the language your customers use. Post updates regularly; an active profile outperforms a dormant one.
Your location signals
Make sure your name, address, and phone number appear identically everywhere they appear online. Inconsistent details confuse search engines and cost you visibility.
Your service pages
Create a page for each service and, where it makes sense, for each area you serve. "Emergency plumbing in [City]" should be a real page, not just a mention.
Reviews
Ask every satisfied customer, and reply to every review, positive or negative. Volume, recency, and responses all matter.
Local content
Write about local questions. Seasonal maintenance, local regulations, neighbourhood specific advice. This is content national competitors cannot easily copy.
Technical basics
Mobile friendly, fast, and secure. A site that fails these loses local rankings no matter how good the content is.
Track it
Check your visibility in local search monthly. If your rankings drift, you want to know in weeks, not quarters.
Local SEO rewards the businesses that show up consistently. It is less glamorous than paid ads and it compounds far better.
